Máximo Kausch (born March 1981 in Argentina ) is an Argentine-Brazilian alpinist .

Life

His family moved to Brazil when he was a child . He later lived in England for 10 years .

Kausch holds the world record among those who have climbed the most six-thousanders in the  Andes . His goal is to be the first climbers all 99-117 summit (depending on the source of text and saddle height compared to subdue) that go beyond this height. No other mountaineer has taken on this task to date. Using GPS technology , he has published all the relevant data so that other mountaineers can benefit from his experience.

In addition, Máximo Kausch is a sworn mountain guide with knowledge of altitude medicine and altitude meteorology with a focus on extreme altitude alpinism. Many of his expeditions took him to more than 25 countries and there in the most remote regions.

Among other things, he organized eleven expeditions to mountains above the 8,000 meter limit. Máximo Kausch is the first South American to have successfully climbed the eight-thousander Cho Oyu in the Himalayas .

Thanks to his special knowledge, he was able to help rescue victims in difficult-to-access mountain regions. On various websites , such as GentedeMontanha or Andes Specialists , he publishes the experience he has gained during these rescue operations. They relate, among other things, to health problems at extreme altitudes, physiological dysfunctions , pharmacological side effects , visual disturbances and bacterial infections .

Máximo Kausch used his logistical experience in the extreme altitude area to take his clients to various mountains around the world together with over 15 employees. 

Awards

  • World record: Guinness world record for 83 climbed six-thousanders in the Andes.
  • Golden Karabiner (Mosquetão de Ouro) together with Pedro Hauck in 2014 for the successful ascent of all six-thousanders in Bolivia .
  • Adventurer of the Year 2015, Award given by GoOutside magazine
  • The Mount Everest Foundation UK is helping to fund his project to climb all six thousand meter peaks in the Andes.
  • Destaque do ano 2013 (event of the year). The magazine “Blog de Escalada” chose Máximo Kausch as the best athlete of the year for the number of his mountain climbs in 2013.
  • Destaque do ano 2015 (event of the year). The magazine “Blog de Escalada” chose Máximo Kausch as the best athlete of the year for the number of mountain climbs he made in 2015.
