May Britt Våland , married . May Britt Hartwell , (born May 8, 1968 in Sola ) is a former Norwegian cyclist and today's cycling trainer.

May Britt Våland was one of Norway's dominant female cyclists from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, on the road and on the track . In track cycling, she won eleven national titles in the single pursuit and in the 500 meter time trial . She has been the Norwegian road individual time trial champion five times . In 1995 she became the Scandinavian team time trial champion . In the same year she won bronze in the single pursuit at the World Track Championships in Bogotá . In 1996 she started at the Olympic Games in Atlanta and finished ninth in the pursuit.

From 1995 May Britt Våland was married to the US track cyclist Erin Hartwell . Together they ran a cycling training school in Trexlertown , Pennsylvania , where a cycle track is located. She then moved back to Norway to work as a trainer.
