mayr power transmission is a drive technology company and manufacturer of safety clutches , shaft clutches , safety brakes, electromagnetic clutches and brakes, direct current drives and rectifiers.

The company was founded in 1897. Initially, transmissions were made for sawmills and mills. As electrical drive technology gradually became established, the company developed and manufactured modern drive elements.

mayr clutches and brakes work in the following industries: machine tools , textile machines , printing machines , woodworking machines, filling machines , plastic processing machines, energy and environmental technology ( wind power ), elevators (elevator brakes) and escalators , stage technology and special machines.

The headquarters of the company with around 700 employees is located in Mauerstetten im Allgäu , which lies between Munich and Lake Constance . Further plants are located in Poland and China. Approx. 400 (as of 2019) people are employed in the Polish production plant. More than 100 (as of 2014) employees work in the Chinese assembly plant. In addition, the company has a total of seven sales offices in England, Italy, France, Switzerland, the USA and Singapore. With eight external offices and 36 additional country representatives, mayr power transmission is present on site worldwide.

The independent family company is owned by the Mayr family in the third generation.
