Textile machine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A textile machine is a machine used for the industrial production of textiles .

They include:

Of all these machines, the sewing machine and the washing machine have found widespread use in many private households beyond the textile industry .

Many textile machines are characterized by some special features compared to general mechanical engineering :

  • they work at considerable speeds in the production of the textiles
  • they are sometimes subject to high stresses due to temperature , pressure and chemicals
  • they have to follow the demands of fashions to a particular extent and are therefore subject to high pressure to innovate
  • they often produce a large variety of items with correspondingly frequent set-up processes
  • Today, their construction must not only serve economic, but also increasingly ecological demands and constraints
  • their operation requires an ever decreasing qualification of the workforce
  • the degree of automation is significantly higher than z. B. in the automotive industry

A strong process of concentration took place in the manufacture of textile machines in the 20th century. Today some large manufacturers from Germany, Switzerland and Northern Italy with individual Japanese companies dominate the market. In 2012, 87 companies in Germany produced machines for textile and clothing manufacture and generated sales of 4.354 billion euros.
