McGuire Island is an island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . It is located in the northeastern section of the Joubin Islands .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1975 after Thomas J. McGuire (1935-2010), machinist on the RV Hero serving the National Science Foundation on its Antarctic voyage to Palmer Station in 1968.
