The McIlroy Peak is a 745 m high mountain on South Georgia . It rises 1.3 km south of Mount Barren and west of Husvik Harbor .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1990 after the British doctor James McIlroy (1879-1968), participant in the Endurance Expedition (1914-1916) and the Quest Expedition (1921-1922) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
