Mechthild Dreyer (born October 21, 1955 in Ratingen ) is a German philosopher and university professor.

Life

From 1974 to 1980 she completed a degree in Catholic theology , philosophy and education at the University of Bonn and graduated in 1980 with a diploma in Catholic theology. During her doctorate, from 1980 to 1982 she was a research assistant at the seminar for Christian Philosophy of Religion / Fundamental Theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and from 1982 to 1984 received a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk Episcopal Study Fund . After receiving her doctorate in philosophy in 1984 on the idea of ​​God with Hermann Cohen , she worked at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Bonn, where she completed her habilitation in 1995 with a thesis on scientific knowledge in the 12th century. In 1997 she received the Prize of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts and was deputy director of the Albertus Magnus Institute in Bonn from 1995 to 1999.
