Mecklenburg Football Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mecklenburg Football Association (MFB) (sometimes also called Mecklenburg Football Association) was a football association for the Mecklenburg area .

founding

At the beginning of December 1904 , the following appeal appeared in a contemporary sports newspaper for the establishment of an association: “Since, as is well known, the establishment of a North German football association (Bremen, Hamburg, Altona, Kiel, Lüneburg, etc.) is planned, the undersigned members of the Schwerin FC decided in 1903 to call on the Mecklenburg football clubs again to join forces and then join the planned association as an association in order to become a member of the German Football Association . Otherwise the time will not be too far off that the Mecklenburg clubs will be forced to join the league by threatening disqualification. We therefore direct the urgent request to the Mecklenburg football clubs to send representatives to a meeting called on December 11th in Schwerin to discuss the establishment of a Mecklenburg Confederation. We firmly hope that our appeal will determine all clubs to which the request is addressed to be represented in Schwerin, because it is about the weal and woe of Mecklenburg football! Schwerin, December 3, 1904 R. Burmeister, E. Harnak. "

Three clubs founded the Mecklenburg Football Association on December 11, 1904 (other sources speak of December 18). In addition to the initiator Schweriner FC 1903 , FC Vorwärts 1904 Schwerin and FC Elite 1903 Wismar .

development

From March to May 1905 , the first championship of the MFB in a division was held as a single round. All three founding clubs took part in the league games, Schweriner FC and Vorwärts also with their second teams. Champion became the SFC, which clearly won all four games.

The Mecklenburg Football Association became a member of the North German Football Association , which was founded on April 15, 1905 , but remained in existence like most other local associations.

Before the beginning of the 1905/06 season, Elite Wismar renamed itself to Wismarer FC 1905 “for compelling reasons” . The clubs Rostocker FC 1895 , FC Alemannia 1903 Rostock, FC Germania 1901 Rostock and FC Germania 1904 Wismar were newly admitted to the association . The 1st class consisted of six clubs. Wismarer FC did not appear after their 3-0 defeat at Rostocker FC four times in a row and withdrew completely after the devastating 0-31 defeat at Schwerin FC. It is possible that Germania Rostock took the free space, but since no final table was known, this could not be proven with certainty. Four reserve teams and Germania Wismar played in the 2nd class.

For the 1905/06 season, the two divisions were divided into two groups. In the group A the Rostock associations were classified, in group B the clubs from Schwerin and Strelitz . Schwerin FC won the final of the district championship 2-1 against Rostock FC. The district championship of the 2nd class also went to the master of group B.

In 1907, the Mecklenburg Football Association became part of the North German Football Association as its fourth district.

Final round of the North German Championship

In the final round of the North German Championship 1905/06 Mecklenburg champions met Rostock FC 1895 on neutral ground in Lübeck on the FV Holstein Kiel in 1902 . Already at the break the Rostockers were hopelessly behind with 0: 6 and lost in the end in double digits with 1:10.

In the 1906/07 season, the difference in performance between the very weak top tier of Mecklenburg and Hamburg / Altona, by far the strongest league in the north, was shown even more clearly. Again in a neutral place in Lübeck , Schwerin FC 1903 was able to make the result with 1: 6 reasonably bearable at halftime, but in the second part of the game the total slump took place. With 20: 2, FC Victoria rolled over their opponents in 1895 .
