Medardas Grigaliūnas

Medardas Grigaliūnas (* 18th August 1925 in Kuodžiai , volost Velžys now Panevėžys District Municipality , Panevėžys district ; † 9. February 2014 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian agronomist and politician .

Life

Grigaliūnas studied in Kabeliai elementary school . In 1950 he graduated from the technical center in Joniškėlis . From 1950 to 1952 Grigaliūnas worked in the Šiauliai district . From 1954 to 1956 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Lietuvos komunistų partija . From 1959 to 1961 he headed the Kepaliai - collective farm in the joniškis district municipality . In 1962 Grigaliūnas graduated from the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija in Kaunas .

From 1962 to 1963 Grigaliūnas was the first deputy minister for agricultural production and preparations. From 1963 he was a member of the Supreme Soviet of Soviet Lithuania . From 1963 to 1965 Grigaliūnas worked as the first deputy prime minister of Soviet Lithuania and as the minister for agricultural production and preparations. From 1965 to 1985 he was Minister of Agriculture.

His grave is in Antakalnis Cemetery , Vilnius.
