The Medvědí skála (German: Bärenstein , also Bernsteinberg ) is a 924 m high mountain in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains .

Location and surroundings

The mountain is located three kilometers southwest of Mikulovice in the area of the municipality Nová Ves v Horách and forms with the Lesenská pláň ( Hübladung ) the largest mountain group in the central part of the Ore Mountains. The mountains lie between the Saxon town of Olbernhau and the Czech town of Litvínov and are surrounded by the valleys of the Natzschung , Schweinitz and Flöha rivers .

As station no. 13 Bernsteinberg, the summit was a first-order station of the Royal Saxon Triangulation in the 1860s .

The Medvědí skála is difficult to climb because it is partially surrounded by raised bogs and there are no trails.
