Meg Ritchie

Meg Ritchie (actually Margaret Elizabeth Ritchie, married Stone ; born July 6, 1952 in Kirkcaldy ) is a former British discus thrower and shot putter .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, she finished sixth in the discus throw for Scotland .

In 1978 she was fourth in discus throw and eighth in shot put at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton . At the European Athletics Championships in Prague she came in 13th place in the discus throw.

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow she was ninth in the discus throw. In 1982 she won this discipline at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and was seventh in the shot put. She also had a double start at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 : She finished eighth in the discus throw, and in the shot put she was eliminated from the qualification. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, she took fifth place in the discus throw.

She was English champion three times (1975, 1977, 1981) and four times British champion (1977–1980) in discus throwing. Starting for the University of Arizona , she became NCAA champion in the shot put and discus throw in 1982 and NCAA indoor champion in the shot put in 1983.
