Megapenthes (son of Menelaus)
Megapenthes ( Greek Μεγαπένθης ) is in Greek mythology the son of Menelaus and the Etholian slave Pieris or Tereis, who was born during the Trojan War .
Menelaus arranged a wedding between Megapenthes and Iphiloche, a daughter of Alector from Sparta . After Menelaus' death, he and his brother Nikostratos are said to have expelled Helena , who then fled to Polyxo in Rhodes .
Since Megapenthes, as the son of a slave, did not appear worthy to ascend the throne of Lacedaemon , Orestes , the son of Agamemnon , was made king.
