Mehdi Honardoost

Mehdi Honardoost ( Persian مهدی هنردوست; * 1958 ) is an Iranian diplomat who has been ambassador to Islamabad since December 31, 2015 .

He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in data security .

Career

He joined the foreign service and was Deputy Head of the East Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1991 . From 1991 to 1995 he was deputy head of mission at the Iranian embassy in Beijing . From 1995 to 1999 he headed the East Asia department. From 1999 to 2004 he had exequatur as consul general in Mumbai (India). From 2004 to 2005 he headed the East Asia department. From 2005 to 2008 he was in charge of administration. From 2008 to 2011 he was ambassador to Athens . From 2011 to 2015 he was head of the Western Europe department . He has been ambassador to Islamabad since December 31, 2015 .
