Mehmet Erten

Mehmet Erten (* 1948 in Mumcular , Mugla Province ) is a Turkish 3-star general . From August 2011 to August 30, 2013 he was commander of the Turkish Air Force , his successor was Akın Öztürk . Erten succeeded Hasan Aksay , who resigned at the end of July 2011 with the entire armed forces command.

Life

Erten attended elementary and middle schools in Mumcular and Milas. In 1963 he attended vocational college and in 1966 the Air Force cadet institute . He graduated from the latter in 1968 as an officer candidate. Erten trained as a pilot and took part in the Cyprus campaign in 1974 .

After two years of study, Merten graduated from the Air Force Military Academy in 1981 . He worked in various positions, completed further training courses in the late 1980s and worked for NATO in the Netherlands from 1991 to 1994. He was appointed Brigadier General in 1999, Major General in 2003 and Lieutenant General in 2007.

Erten is married and has one daughter.
