Mumcular

Mumcular is a place in the Turkish province of Muğla about 29 kilometers northeast of Bodrum . Since 1972 the place has the status of a municipality .

location

Mumcular is located in the so-called Karaova ( Black Plain ) at the entrance to the Bodrum Peninsula. The old name of the city was also Karaova. Mumcular is connected to the main road from Milas to Turgutreis by a dead end .

population

The central town of Mumcular and the 11 villages belonging to the municipality have a total of around 15,000 inhabitants. Every Sunday there is a weekly market in Mumcular .

Reservoir

The Mumcular Reservoir ( Mumcular barajı ), built in 1989, is located near the village . It is not only used for irrigation, but also represents an important drinking water reservoir for the arid region.
