Mehmet Nazif Günal

Mehmet Nazif Günal (* 1948 in Artvin ) is a Turkish entrepreneur and engineer.

Life

Günal was born in Artvin in 1948 . At the age of 20 he worked as a construction worker, in 1971 he completed an engineering degree at the Technical University of the Middle East in Ankara .

Günal is a member of the Fenerbahçe Istanbul football club . Günal is married and has three children. His son Murathan Doruk Günal is also an engineer and is Vice President of the MNG Group. Murathan Doruk Günal was President of FC Wils, which was acquired by the MNG Group. Mehmet Nazif Günal's daughter Merve is also an engineer and works for the MNG Group.

Günal founded the MNG group named after him in 1976 and has been leading it ever since. The group is active in the construction business, the tourism industry and in the transport sector. It owns MNG Airlines and has its own television station, TV8 .

In addition to Turkey, the MNG Group is also active on the African continent of Georgia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Albania and Azerbaijan.

FC Wil

In 2015 Günal took over the then second-class Swiss club FC Wil . Günal's son Murathan Doruk Günal became the new president. On February 8, 2017, it became known that Turkish investors had left FC Wil at short notice. In November, at the club's general assembly, it was announced that Günal and the investors had put over CHF 20 million into the club within 1½ years, with a loss of CHF 11 million in the first year and a loss of CHF 11 million in the second year until the club left Another CHF 8.6 million was invested in the club. Controversy

In Turkey, Günal's name was mentioned in the context of controversial hydropower plants. Günal's commitment to the New Istanbul Airport was also criticized. In this context, Günal had described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the “second Ataturk ”, who was perhaps even “even bigger”.
