Meiental
The Meiental is a side valley of the upper Reuss valley in the Swiss canton of Uri .

A well-developed two-lane road leads through the valley through which the Meienreuss flows from Wassen in the east to the Susten Pass in the west.
The center of the wild and romantic Meiental is the hamlet of Kapelle at 1,313 m above sea level. M. Other hamlets that are also inhabited all year round are Husen , Dörfli , Eisten , Aderbogen , Fürlauwi and Färnigen . They are connected to Wassen by dial-a-bus , where there is a connection to public transport.
Emigration is the main problem facing the Meiental. A good 50 people currently live there. The village school was definitely closed in 2002 by a decision of the district administrator of the canton of Uri after being in existence for over a hundred years.
tourism
Numerous hiking trails and mountain bike routes lead through the valley or into the surrounding mountains. In winter the Meiental is a ski touring area. In addition to a year-round guest house and a restaurant, there is a hotel that is open during the summer months as well as two SAC huts, the Sustlihütte ( 2257 m above sea level ) and the Sewenhütte ( 2148 m above sea level ).
