Meinrad Amann , baptized Fidelis Amann , (born April 9, 1785 in Hoßkirch ; † December 19, 1839 in St. Paul im Lavanttal ) was an Austrian clergyman and from 1826 to 1839 abbot of St. Paul im Lavanttal in Carinthia.

Life

Meinrad Amann was born in Hoßkirch near Ravensburg . He entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Blasien in 1803 and studied theology. He was ordained a priest on May 27, 1809 in St. Paul. He then completed his studies in Vienna in order to be able to work as a professor of theology at the Lyceum in Klagenfurt. Although there had been disputes with his predecessor Berthold Rottler , he was elected the second abbot of the newly founded abbey after him.
