Melendi (born January 21, 1979 in Oviedo ; Asturias , actually Ramón Melendi Espina ) is a Spanish singer. His music includes influences from rock , pop , flamenco and rumba .

biography

Melendi, whose full name is Ramón Melendi Espina, was born on January 21, 1979 in Oviedo , Asturias . He went to the same class as Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso , to whom he dedicated some of his songs. He quickly realized that studying was not for him. Instead, he liked football and played in Real Oviedo's youth . He later worked as a waiter in numerous bars.

In February 2003 Melendi's first solo album, "Sin noticias de Holanda", was released, which contained twelve songs. In November 2003 he created a new version of his debut album with two new songs. At the 2004 Tour of Spain Melendi's song "Con la luna llena" was named the theme song. In May of the same year he started with a small tour of Spain. In 2004 he was able to sell 50,000 albums.

His second album was a great financial success with over 200,000 copies sold. "Caminando por la vida" won him the "Premio Ondas", the Spanish television award.

In 2006 he announced that he is a main character in the video game Gangs of London by Sony for the PSP would be. He "lent" his voice to Mr. Big, a nasty gangster.

He also wrote the song "Volveremos" for his favorite football club Real Oviedo , with which he had a number one hit in 2006. "Vuelvo a traficar" is a film project in which Melendi is involved.

In 2012 Melendi recorded the song Cuestión de prioridades por el Cuerno de Àfrica for the Africa aid Save the Children . In addition to his wife Damaris Abad ( La Dama ) and her brother Rasel, other well-known musicians were involved.

His seventh studio album Un alumno más was his third number one album in 2014 and the fifth to go double platinum for sales.
