Research on the herpetofauna of East Timor has identified several species at Meleotegi. The reptiles discovered include two possibly new species of rainbow skinks (Carlia) , one of the smooth night skinks (Eremiascincus "Ermera") and two of the forest skinks (Sphenomorphus) . The Timor kite (Draco timoriensis) , the Eremiascincus timorensis , the multi-striped skink (Eutropis multifasciata) and the Bakhita snake- eye skink (Cryptoblepharus Bakhita) were also identified .
