Melissa Scott

Melissa Scott (* 1960 in Little Rock , Arkansas ) is an American author . Scott writes books on fantasy and science fiction .

Life

After finishing school, she studied history at Harvard College and Brandeis University and received a Ph.D. in comparative history. She published her first novel in 1984 and has written around two dozen books since then, three of which she wrote with her partner Lisa A. Barnett .

In Scott's books, LGBT characters appear who are built into the stories, but are rarely the focus of their books. The book Shadow Man alone focuses on LGBT and sexuality among her books.

In addition to her literary work, Scott also teaches students to write and publishes in this area via the Internet and instruction books.

Scott lived with her partner Lisa A. Barnett in Portsmouth , New Hampshire , for 27 years until she died of breast cancer on May 2, 2006.
