The Melville Point is a headland at the Hobbs Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It marks the east side of the entrance to Siniff Bay .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them using their own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1959 and 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1974 after Frederick Charles Melville (1884-1935), who was captain of the City of New York in the frame the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930) had made several trips to the Bay of Whales .
