Menachem Elon
Menachem Elon ( Hebrew מנחם אלון; * November 1, 1923 in Düsseldorf , Germany ; † February 7, 2013 in Jerusalem ) was an Israeli lawyer and professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .
Life
Elon was a Supreme Court Judge in Israel from 1977 to 1993 .
In 1979 he was awarded the Israel Prize .
In 1983 Elon ran for the office of Israeli President , but was defeated by Chaim Herzog .
