Menat-Chufu was an ancient Egyptian city in Middle Egypt, in the 16th Upper Egyptian Gau . It has not yet been possible to localize the location more precisely.
The earliest mention comes from the reign of Mentuhotep IV , who recruited people from this place for an expedition to Wadi Hammamat . Otherwise, the place is mentioned in the graves of Chnumhotep I and Chnumhotep II in Beni Hassan , who were both mayors of Menat-Chufu . Since the latter also bore the title of head of the eastern desert , it has been assumed that Menat-Chufu was on the east side of the Nile . The assumption that the place was identical to the Menat-Snofru known from the Old Kingdom and was renamed remains speculation.
