Mendori Island (from Japanese め ん ど り り 島 Mendori-jima , German 'Henneninsel' ) is a small island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is the northernmost of a group of three islands that are 800 m northwest of the strait between Ongul Island and East Ongul Island .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962, as a result of which the naming was made, were used to map the island. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Japanese name from 1972 in 1975 in a partial translation into English.
