Menhir Pierre de Minuit

The Menhir Pierre de Minuit (also called Menhir de la Chaise or Grande Pierre ) is about one kilometer west of the village of Louzouer , northeast of Montargis in the Loiret department in France .

Menhir Pierre de Minuit

The menhir Pierre de Minuit ( German  Midnight Stone ) is the highest of the approximately 40 menhirs in the Loiret department. It is almost 5.0 meters high, up to 2.0 meters wide and of various thicknesses.

The stone is a perforated, pitted sandstone on the west side and a conglomerate of flint and gravel on the east side . Much of the conglomerate is crumbling and forming bizarre shapes, with pieces sticking out here and there. Where the layer is thin there are holes through the menhir.

It is said that women who want to become mothers should sit on the stone.

The Dolmen de la Pierre de Minuit is located southeast of Pontlevoy in the Loir-et-Cher department .
