Menhir by Moustoir
The menhir of Moustoir or the stele of Moustoir stands near the chapel Saint-Marc in the hamlet of Moustoir, south of Saint-Jean-Brévelay near Vannes in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France . Not to be confused with the similar looking menhir by Kerara in Moustoir-Ac .
The slender, spindle-shaped menhir is about 2.3 m high. It comes from the Neolithic or Bronze Age . He was Christianized at an unknown date with the addition of a cross engraving . Its east side is ornamented with a simple cross contour. The paw cross rests on a long shaft with parallel edges, which is supported on a base. So it is more of a "cross memorial".
The menhir has been classified as a monument historique since 1936 .
