Andri Rúnar Bjarnason (born November 12, 1990 in Bolungarvík ) is an Icelandic football player .

Career

societies

In his youth, Andri Rúnar Bjarnason played for his hometown club UMF Bolungarvík, moved to the local BÍ / Bolungarvík at the age of 16 and played for this club for eight years with one break, from 2008 in the second division.

From 2012 to 2013 he attended North Carolina Wesleyan College, played 15 games for the Battling Bishops and scored 14 hits. Andri Rúnar Bjarnason was named Rookie of the Year at the USA South Athletic Conference ( NCAA Division III).

At the beginning of 2015, Andri Rúnar Bjarnason moved to the first division club Víkingur Reykjavík .

In May 2016 he moved back to the second division, to UMF Grindavík , and helped lead the club to the first division. In 2017 he was the top scorer in the Icelandic first division with 19 goals in 22 games.

In November 2017 Andri Rúnar Bjarnason signed a contract with the Swedish second division club Helsingborgs IF . In the 2018 season he was the Superettan's top scorer with 16 goals scored in 28 games and was promoted to the Allsvenskan with HIF . In the first half of 2019, he scored 3 goals in 8 league games.

In June 2019, Andri Rúnar Bjarnason moved to the 3rd division for 1. FC Kaiserslautern for a base transfer of 2 million crowns (approx. 190,000 euros) . He signed a two-year contract that included an extension option in the event of promotion. After a year and missed promotion to the second German Bundesliga , Bjarnason left FCK and joined Esbjerg fB in the Danish Superliga in August 2020 . In Esbjerg Andri Rúnar Bjarnason signed a contract until 2022.

National team

Andri Rúnar Bjarnason was appointed to the Icelandic national football team for the first time in January 2018 . He scored his first international goal in Iceland's 6-0 win over Indonesia.
