Mensch Bachmann is a six-part series and was broadcast in six episodes from September 1984 to November 1984 by ZDF . Herbert Reinecker wrote the book for the series .

The history

Rudolf Bachmann is a widower with four daughters and has been an accountant for years. On his 50th birthday, he was called to the company management, where instead of the expected congratulations, he received his notice. He only admits this to his daughters after some hesitation and immediately presents his plan B: he wants to found a transport company. While his older daughters try to talk him out of this idea, the baby, Carola, gives him support for his venture. The bona fide Bachmann buys an overpriced old pickup truck, but there is no commercial success. Eventually he changed saddles and bought a minibus to offer bus tours. This company, too, threatens to fail until he meets a wealthy entrepreneur, portrayed by Karl-Heinz Vosgerau , who likes Bachmann's business idea and promotes it.

background

Mensch Bachmann (director of all 6 episodes: Wolfgang Becker ) was Rolf Schimpf's "trial run" before producer Helmut Ringelmann made him the successor to Siegfried Lowitz in the crime series Der Alte . The Munich producer saw Schimpf in the television game "Der Sheriff von Linsenbach", in which he liked it very much. Then he engaged him for the main role in Mensch Bachmann . Although Herbert Reinecker had already written scripts for other episodes, these were not realized because Schimpf switched from the family man to the head of Homicide Squad II.
