Menzing
Menzing was a settlement in what is now the urban area of Munich . It was first mentioned in a document in 817 as Menzinga . The name is derived from the male name Manzo.
As early as 1315, however, there was talk of two Menzing (duo mentzing). These two places were later called Obermenzing and Untermenzing . It is generally assumed that the first mention of Menzing refers to the later Obermenzing.
The association “1200 Jahre Menzing” eV was founded for the joint 1200th anniversary of Unter- and Obermenzing for the first documentary mention of Menzing . The anniversary year will be shaped with numerous high-quality events. The Menzing Festival for “1200 Years of Menzing” will be a highlight in July 2017. When the community was formed in 1818, Obermenzing and Untermenzing formed independent political communities. In 1938 both communities were incorporated into the city of Munich . There they now form separate districts in the districts of Pasing-Obermenzing and Allach-Untermenzing .
