Merav Barnea

Merav Barnea (born March 1971 in Kfar Saba , Israel ) is an Israeli opera, operetta and concert singer with a dramatic soprano voice .

Live and act

Merav Barnea gained his first stage experience in a vocal group with Israeli folk music at the age of 15, with Shoshana Damari and Esther Ofarim as artistic role models. After completing her military service, she studied singing with Tamar Rachum at the Rubin Music Academy Tel Aviv from 1992–1996 , final grade “with distinction”, 1996–1999 at the Berlin University of the Arts with Ingrid Figur , further teachers Aribert Reimann , Axel Bauni and Peter Raski , Final grade “With distinction”. In recognition of her performance in singing competitions, Merav Barnea accepted an invitation in 1999 to sing Olivier Messiaen's “Chants de Terre et de Ciel” in the Berlin Philharmonic .

Merav Barnea made his debut at the Tel Aviv Opera House in 1999 as First Lady ( Magic Flute ). She also sang Rosalinde ( Fledermaus ), Micaela ( Carmen ), Leonore ( Fidelio ), Hanna Glawari ( Merry Widow ), Mother ( Hansel and Gretel ), Max (Max and Moritz, opera by Gil Shohat ), Lucy ( The Telephone ) , Margarete ( Faust ) and others.

From 2006 to 2009 Merav Barnea was a member of the ensemble at Theater Ulm . Here she made her debut as Marie ( Wozzeck ). Other roles: Fata Morgana ( The Love of the Three Oranges ), Poppea ( The Coronation of Poppea ), Agathe ( Freischütz ), Lady Macbeth ( Macbeth ), Tatjana ( Eugen Onegin ), Elisabeth ( Tannhäuser ), Rosalinde ( The Bat ) and Tosca in the opera of the same name.

The now freelance artist works as a concert singer in Europe and Israel. The artist currently lives in Munich. She is married to Art Director Moshe Ushpiz and has three daughters.
