Mercedes-Benz Pullman

The Mercedes-Benz Pullman are representative limousines from Mercedes-Benz . These are Pullman vehicles and not subsequently extended stretch limousines .

So far, four generations of the Mercedes-Benz Pullman have been offered. The production of Pullman vehicles from Mercedes-Benz began in 1963 and is continued to this day. The automobiles developed from custom-made products for the federal government and for the Pope. The target groups for the acquisition were various governments and some important business leaders.

1st generation (100 series)

The Pullman, based on the Mercedes-Benz W 100 , was built from 1964 to 1981. It was presented in September 1963 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The vehicle was lengthened to up to 6240 mm. With the 184 kW (250 hp) M 100 V8 engine, it reaches a top speed of 200 km / h. There was alternatively a limousine and a landaulet . The Pullman limousine was also offered as a special protection version upon special request. Famous buyers were the Shah of Persia , John Lennon , Max Grundig , Elvis Presley .

2nd generation (series 140)

The Pullman variant of the Mercedes-Benz 140 series was the second generation. The Mercedes-Benz was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 1995 and was 6213 mm long. While the armored car presented in 1995 weighs 4.4 tons empty, the standard version of the 6.2 meter long state limousine weighs 2.7 tons. The Pullman limousine can drive up to 160 km / h with armored equipment; the top speed of the unarmored version is 210 km / h.

3rd generation (220 series)

The Mercedes-Benz 220- Pullman series was the third generation (designation VV 220) and was available from autumn 2001. The Pullman was available with the five- liter eight-cylinder V-engine with 225 kW (306 hp) or with the 5.8-liter V12 engine with 270 kW (367 hp). The vehicle is based on a reinforced bodyshell and a modified chassis.

4th generation (series 221)

The vehicle is based on the Mercedes-Benz 221 series and has been available since autumn 2008. The official name is Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard. This refers to the armor of the vehicle. A twelve-cylinder biturbo engine with a displacement of 5513 cubic centimeters serves as the drive. It develops 380 kW (517 hp) at 5000 rpm and provides a torque of 830 Nm between 1800 and 3500 rpm. The Pullman is 6.36 meters long. Compared to the normal S-Class, the roof has been raised by 60 millimeters with a steeper rear window. The body can be raised pneumatically by around 40 millimeters. The vehicle weighs 5.3 tons. The armor is made of armor steel and carbon fiber . 65 millimeter thick special panes protect against hand grenades, machine gun attacks and explosive attacks. The top speed is limited to 160 km / h due to the special tires. The sales price is € 920,000.
