Meret Lüthi

Meret Lüthi (* 1977 or 1978 in Bern ) is a Swiss classical violinist and concert master .

life and work

Meret Lüthi studied at the Bern University of the Arts with Monika Urbaniak Lisik and with Eva Zurbrügg violin. Here she earned her teaching and concert diploma with distinction. At the same time, from 2000 to 2003, she studied as a member of the Amaryllis Quartet with Walter Levin at the Music Academy of the City of Basel . She then completed a specialization course in baroque violin with Anton Steck at the Trossingen State University of Music . For further training, she took part in master classes by Igor Ozim , Christian Altenburger , Thomas Brandis , Ingolf Turban and Gerhard Schulz . Meret Lüthi's training was supported by grants from the Kiefer Hablitzel Foundation and the Kiwanis Club Bern . In 2007 she won a prize at the German University Competition for Early Music .

Meret Lüthi has been concertmaster of the baroque orchestra Les Passions de l'Ame, which she co-founded, since 2008 . She had previously worked in the same position with the Belgian ensemble B'Rock . She also played as a guest in the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra . She also devoted herself intensively to chamber music.

Meret Lüthi taught as a guest lecturer at the Antwerp Academy of Music. She is currently teaching baroque violin and historical performance practice at the Bern University of the Arts.

In 2017 Meret Lüthi was awarded the music prize of the canton of Bern for “her longstanding and outstanding musical work”. In 2020 she received the Bürgi-Willert-Foundation's 2020 Culture Prize together with the singer and songwriter Shirley Grimes “for her many years of work and research in her specialty”.
