Trivia

When Altenburger's apartment was broken into on May 29, 2007, an alleged Stradivarius violin from 1680 worth around 2.5 million euros and a Vuillaume violin costing around 120,000 euros were stolen from him. June 2007 were found undamaged by the police. The three perpetrators were caught and sentenced to six and five years in prison, respectively. They had carried out ten break-ins in May 2007 alone. During the process, an expert could not confirm the authenticity of the Stradivarius. The violin is smaller than a typical Stradivarius, probably an Amati violin . Three or four masters from Cremona could be considered as manufacturers. The value should therefore be set at 500,000 euros.
