Statue of Meritamun in Achmim |
Meritamun was an ancient Egyptian queen and great royal wife of her father Ramses II and the eldest daughter of Nefertari .
Meritamun is known from numerous monuments. She usually appears fourth on her father's lists of princesses. A colossal statue that was found in 1970 and shows it comes from Achmim . This once stood in front of the local Mintempel and lined the entrance with figures of her father of the same size. This testifies to an honor not even given to her mother, Nefertari.

Probably after the death of her mother, around the 25th year of Ramses II's reign, she was made Great Royal Wife. Her grave is in the Valley of the Queens ( QV68 ). The remains of a large sarcophagus were found there , the lid of which is now in the Egyptian Museum in Berlin .
