The Merkur II is a steel motor yacht built in 1966 at the Evers shipyard in Niendorf / Ostsee with its home port in Kiel, which was owned by a group company of HSH Nordbank until June 2011 and has since been a charter yacht of the Adler ships based on Sylt.

history

Since the takeover by the former Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein - Girozentrale in 1967, the yacht was used by the state bank of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein for day trips with bank customers, business partners and employees and was considered the state's unofficial state yacht. Their regular berth in the home port of Kiel was on the Kiel Fjord right in front of the Landeshaus . When the State Banks of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein merged, it was transferred to HSH Nordbank AG , which it initially spun off to the group subsidiary HSH Facility Management Holding . This divided the Mercury II turn to the 100 percent subsidiary Baltic Sea GmbH , which offered the ship to an overhaul in 2009 at the Friedrich shipyard in Kiel in day charter. In 2010 the Merkur II was offered for day charter on the Thames, Cowes Week on the Solent and Sail Amsterdam .

On the part of the previous owner, the Merkur II was referred to as a barge because it is only approved for sailing near the coast at a distance of five nautical miles from the coastline, i.e. it is not suitable for the ocean. The charter rate was given as 300 euros per operating hour.

The Association of Taxpayers stated the annual operating costs of the Merkur II at 390,000 euros and pointed out in its Black Book 2009 that, according to an agreement, the former shareholders of the former Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein could use the ship up to five times a year and that the ship was Was used on 35 days in 2008. According to the owner's financial plan, the Merkur II should hit a “black zero” for the 2010 financial year.

The ship was sold in June 2011. The new owner is the Sylt shipowner Sven Paulsen ( Adler ships ). The first use under the new shipping company flag was at the Kieler Woche 2011 as a windjammer escort. The motor yacht has been used for burial at sea and charter trips from Warnemünde since summer 2016 .
