The Messelberg is 749.3  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Swabian Alb east of Donzdorf . Its distinctive shape shapes and dominates the surroundings.

Messelstein

At the highest point of the Messelberg, a rocky cliff, easily accessible on foot, jumps out of the wooded steep slope in a north-westerly direction, the Messelstein . From its exposed location, on a clear day, you can see the Black Forest , 130 km away . Here is a small castle as well as a prehistoric site that was interpreted as a cult site .

The Swabian Alb North Rim Trail leads over the Messelberg .

Airfield

The Donzdorf airfield is located on the Messelberg plateau, 1.7 km south-east of the Messelstein . It is operated by the Aviation Group Donzdorf. To the west of it, directly on the Albtrauf , is a launch site for hang gliders and paragliders .
