Messkapelle Bersbuch
The Bersbuch Messkapelle is a Roman Catholic chapel and former branch church of the Andelsbuch parish in the center of the village of Bersbuch in the municipality of Andelsbuch in the Bregenzerwald in the state of Vorarlberg , located directly on the old Bregenzerwaldstrasse . The chapel is dedicated to Saints Martin and Wendelin .
history
The chapel was first mentioned in 1249 as the property of the Mehrerau monastery . A new building with subsequent consecration took place between 1672 and 1687. In 1869 the mess chapel was redesigned and received a new facility. In 2019 the chapel was renovated.
Church building
The simple, small chapel has a roof turret over the western entrance facade, a polygonal choir closure and narrow arched windows. The portal has a flat arch with a wedge, dated 1869. There are small stone-walled windows on both sides of the portal. Above the portal is an arched window with tracery. Saint Martin from 1700 stands in a niche above it.
The interior has a flat ceiling with a slight valley and stucco frame structure. There are pilasters in the choir and a surrounding cornice that is continued in the nave. There is a stucco palmette decoration over the windows with profiled frames . The parapet of the organ gallery is structured by frame fields.
Furnishing
The altar with a triangular gable and palmette decoration was created around 1870. To the side are the figures of Saints Barbara and Joseph . The altarpiece shows St. Nicholas and St. Martin. In the tondo above is a copy of the Sistine Madonna . Above the door to the sacristy is a crucifix from 1870. In the choir on the left, in a niche, there is a figure of Maria Immaculata from the late 19th century. The Stations of the Cross are wooden reliefs from 1982.
