Mesut Okcu

Mesut Okcu (born March 13, 1974 ) is a German wrestler .

As a junior European champion in the light heavyweight up to 90 kg , Okcu, who was starting for the Turkish Wrestling Club Berlin at the time , missed the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , although he was considered a star of the Bundesliga at the time. National coach Wolfgang Nitschke nominated instead of his Heiko Balz because of an unexcused absence from the national team's courses . In 1996 Okcu won the German championship title in freestyle. He was able to repeat this success in the middleweight division the following year. Okcu started in 2000 for AC 1897 Werdau in the 1st Bundesliga. In 2002 he moved back to the Turkish Wrestling Club in Berlin in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2004 he started for VfL Neckargartach in the 2nd Bundesliga. At the 65th German Wrestling Championships in 2005 in Waldkirch , he was unable to defend another heavyweight freestyle championship title from 2004 and came third. In the 2006/07 season, Okcu came back for the colors of the Turkish Wrestling Club Berlin in the 1st Bundesliga.

In 2011 he trained as a trainer at the Wrestling Association of Saxony .
