Mesut Yılmaz (born February 23, 1989 in Rize ) is a Turkish football player who currently plays for Göztepe Izmir .

Career

Club career

Mesut Yılmaz began with club football in the youth of Çaykurspor and then played for the youth team of Çaykur Rizespor . In the summer of 2006 he received a professional contract here and was integrated into the team squad. However, he continued to play mainly for the reserve team. Nevertheless, he kept coming back to work for the professionals. So he came in his first season on three league games for the professional team. It was not until the 2011/12 season that he immediately won a regular place and made 24 appearances. At the end of the 2012/13 season, Yılmaz reached promotion with his team on the runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig .

After the rise with Rizespor he was loaned to the third division Göztepe Izmir for the coming season . After he had not played a competitive game with this club until the winter break, his contract was terminated by mutual agreement. For the second half of the season he was loaned to Nazilli Belediyespor .

National team career

In 2008 he made a game for the Turkish U-20 national team.
