Metalhead is a German heavy metal band.

history

According to the music label Killer Metal Records , which released the self-titled debut album in 2012, Stefan Sadzio (vocals) and AM Draude (guitar) got together at the turn of the year 2001/2002 to record four pieces for a demo as part of a project . From this nucleus a band developed, which made its first appearances mainly in northern Germany and with a larger proportion of cover versions . In 2006, the debut album originally announced for this year should have been the first CD to be released on Killer Metal Records. However, due to unspecified aspects, this release was delayed, so that it became the twelfth CD release. One piece of the 7 "single Demon , published in 2006 as the only musical sign of life to date, was reused, the other seven pieces are completely rewritten.

style

As a reference to describe the style, Götz Kühnemund , then editor-in-chief of Rock Hard, used the band Mercyful Fate from the 1990s (“Dead Again / 9-Phase”) and, in places, the first two albums by Running Wild . The reviewer from Powermetal.de , on the other hand, recognizes bonds with Judas Priest . At Crossfire the style is called "galloping, very American-influenced Metal".

reception

The debut album was discussed in issue 302 of Rock Hard . Metalhead collects "all the clichés that the Keep-It-True audience loves so much and knits eight successful songs from them," states Götz Kühnemund . In addition, the singer is much better than most similarly oriented colleagues, as he can both master the hero tenor and sound like King Diamond's twin brother. In the interview in the following issue, Andreas Himmelstein stated with a similar tenor that the album was “another highlight of the year in terms of traditional metal” and that the singer was “a real exceptional talent”.

At the e-zine Terrorverlag , the debut album had an average rating of 9.1 out of 10 possible points based on 54 reader ratings by the end of 2018. At Crossfire , the same album was described as "a cool insider tip from Germany that (sic!) Fans of bands like Lizzy Borden, Liege Lord or Metal Inquisitor should definitely please".

In the tabular overview of the reviews of the respective issues, the album was listed in Heavy Magazine at number 2 and in Rock Hard at number 10.
