Metin Eloğlu

Metin Eloğlu (born March 11, 1927 in Istanbul , † October 11, 1985 there ) was a Turkish writer and painter .

Life

Metin Eloğlu also used the pseudonyms Mehmet Metin, Mehmet Emin, Ali Haziranlı, Etem Olgunil, Nil Meteoğlu and Nil Etemoğlu. From 1943 he studied fine arts - painting; In 1946 he was de-registered for political reasons because of two months in prison. In 1947 he began his military service. Due to lack of discipline, he did not end it until five years later.

His first poem Sabah Şarkısı was published in Izmir in 1943 in the Kovan magazine. The following year, his first story, Balıkçı Çocukları Şehri , was published in the Servetifünun-Uyanış magazine . In 1972 he won the TDK Şiir Ödülü, the Society for Turkish Language Prize, with the poem Dizin .

Eloğlu was known not only as a writer but also as a painter. His award-winning works are exhibited in numerous museums in Turkey.

His daughter Şiir Eloğlu is an actress and lives in Germany.
