Şiir Eloğlu

Şiir Eloğlu (born December 6, 1965 in Istanbul ) is a German-Turkish actress who lives and works in Berlin and Cologne .

Şiir Eloğlu came to Cologne from Istanbul at the age of four. The name Şiir, in German “poem”, can be traced back to her father Metin Eloğlu (1927–1985), a painter and poet who was awarded major literary prizes in the 1960s and 1970s.

After graduating from high school in Cologne, Eloğlu studied for four years at the drama department of the Saarland University of Music and Theater in Saarbrücken . Her first engagements then took her to Erlangen , Oberhausen and the Cologne Schauspielhaus .

She made her first filming experiences in 1991 with the movie Happy Birthday, Turk! by Doris Dörrie and played in her first crime scene at the side of Ulrike Folkerts . Eloğlu became popular with a larger audience between 1993 and 1996 through her role as the young assistant doctor Dr. Nesrin Ergün known in the RTL series Stadtklinik .

At the end of 1997 she moved to Berlin. This was followed by television and cinema productions as well as theater engagements, including at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , where she appeared in Antigone and Sieben gegen Theben .

Her first international cinema production was the Swiss film 180 ° - When Your World Suddenly Turns Upside down , which was directed by Cihan Inan in Zurich. The international ensemble included Sophie Rois , Christopher Buchholz , Sabine Timoteo and Michael Neuenschwander . The film was shown at the festivals in Antalya and Saarbrücken , in Sudbury, Canada, in Marrakech and in Ourense, Spain (award for best screenplay ).

In the cinema production Almanya - Willkommen in Deutschland , directed by Yasemin Şamdereli , she can be seen in the role of Leyla Yılmaz. The film was awarded a silver Lola at the German Film Prize.

From 2014 to 2015 she played the architect Suna Kaya in the soap opera Lindenstrasse des Erste .
