Cihan Inan

Cihan Inan (born January 20, 1969 in Burgdorf ) is a Turkish - Swiss theater and film director , screenwriter and dramaturge.

Life

Cihan Inan was born in Switzerland as the third of five children to Turkish guest workers . While studying philosophy and German at the University of Bern , he worked as a projectionist in Bern cinemas and also as a film and theater critic. After completing his studies, he worked for two years as an assistant director at the Freiburg Theater , before doing his first directing work at the Freiburg Theater in 1999. From 2000 he was in-house director at the Freiburg Theater for two years. In 2002 he decided to make a film of Nick Cave's novel "And the donkey saw the angel". This undertaking was implemented in Turkey in 2003 at its own expense and with many private funds. In the same year the filmed footage was stolen and disappeared. After this setback, he began working on the script for “ 180 ° - When Your World Suddenly Turns Upside Down ” and in 2009 with the production company C-Films . 180 ° was released in Swiss cinemas on September 30, 2010. In the 2011/2012 season he was chief dramaturge at Theater Neumarkt. Since 2012 he has been working on his film projects with various film production companies. He has been acting director at the Konzert Theater Bern since the 2017/18 season. His second film Zone Rouge was released in Swiss cinemas on September 30, 2018 .

Cihan Inan lives in Berlin and Bern .
