Ava Celik (* 1990 in Berlin as Özge Çelik ) is a German actress of Turkish origin.

Life

Ava Celik, the daughter of parents of Turkish origin and German citizenship, grew up with her older sister in Berlin-Charlottenburg . She comes from a liberal, non-religious family; her parents came to Berlin as children "40 or 45 years ago". She attended a high school in Berlin-Charlottenburg with an advanced course in Ancient Greek and graduated from high school . As a teenager she had her "wild phase" and from the age of 16 spent almost two years with punks .

At the age of 16 she played the first time; In 2006 and 2007 she played in two pieces at the Tiyatrom in Berlin-Kreuzberg under the direction of actor, director and dramaturge Yekta Arman . Since 2007 she has also appeared on German stages (2008; as Mr. Paravicini in Die Mausefalle ), in TV productions, including as a student in the television series Die Stein (2008), and in various short films.

From 2010 she took professional acting lessons and attended acting workshops with the acting coach Frank Betzelt. In 2011 she moved to Istanbul for half a year , where she also took acting lessons. After her return, she began studying philosophy and film studies in Berlin with a bachelor's degree in 2012 .

In the short film Geschwisterliebe (2011) she played the main female role, the young Turkish Duygu, who lives in the conflict between the traditions of her home country and modern society in Germany. For her role she received the French-Turkish culture award “Silver Horse Cinema & Music Award” in the category “Best Lead Actress” in Lyon in 2013 .

This was followed by episode roles in the series Klinik am Alex (2012), Danni Lowinski (2013; as a kindergarten teacher Alina, a young woman with lip piercing in a Gothic look), Notruf Hafenkante (2013; as classmate Tina Körner) and SOKO Stuttgart (2014; as suspicious behavioral young girl Evelin).

In the television comedy Kückückskind (2014) she played the "rebellious and rebellious" daughter Ayse Güngor. In the television film Die Freischwimmerin (2014) she had a supporting role; she played Onur Aysan, the sister of a talented young swimmer.

In 2015 and 2016, Celik was seen in a total of three films in the ZDF television series Frühling alongside Simone Thomalla in three episodes in a supporting role. She played Yasemin, the niece of the Berlin dentist Cem, and an intern in the village helpers' station.

In the TV film Die Neue (2015) she played, alongside Iris Berben as a cosmopolitan high school teacher, the Muslim student Sevda, who refuses to take off her headscarf in class for religious reasons . For this role she was nominated in 2016 by Studio Hamburg for the Günter Strack Television Award in the category “Best Young Actress”.

In March 2016, Celik was in Tatort: ​​Wrath of God in a major supporting role. She played the nurse Nihan, the sister of the terrorist Enis Günday ( Cem-Ali Gültekin ) who came from Syria . She also played a small role as a doctor in the Kino- Tatort with Til Schweiger , Tschiller: Off Duty (2016). In February 2017 she appeared in the crime series Morden im Norden in an episode lead role as Fatima Ayan; she played a young woman from Syria who lives with her suspect brother in a refugee home.

Celik also works as a photographer . Her main focus is portraits. Her photographs are described as "indirect but clear". She would like to record individual moments in her pictures that are not tied to time. She also presented a photo series with portraits of her colleague Nilam Farooq .

In November 2014 Celik was diagnosed with celiac disease and had to change her diet. In the following years she developed her own baking recipes for gluten-free sourdough bread. She has received inquiries from Israel , Japan , the United States , Great Britain, and Turkey for her bread recipes . Celik has now ended her career as an actress.

Celik lives with her parents in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
