From October 2010 to the end of 2017 she played on her YouTube channel daaruum  - renamed Nilam in the meantime  - and published a video blog (VLog) there on autobiographical topics such as travel and lifestyle.

First, she appeared as a YouTuber under her pseudonym daaruum . On New Years Day 2014, she announced her real name on her YouTube channel. Shortly thereafter, she joined the network Mediakraft Networks , for which she also moderated the history channel Blast From The Past from December 2014 .

In 2011 Farooq won the Google “Next Up” young talent competition. In 2013 she was awarded the PlayAward for beauty, lifestyle and fashion as part of the video day .

Your VLog, which has been called Nilam since 2016 , was at times one of the 50 most subscribed German-speaking channels. At times she was Germany's biggest YouTuber. Since May 2015 she has been involved in the YouTube channel ellevant . In July 2015 she announced that she had ended her collaboration with Mediakraft and her interim membership in the 301+ association in Berlin. Compared to Broadmark.de, she also announced a reorientation of her work on YouTube. However, Nilam was not able to build on the previous success.

She has not been a video blogger since the end of 2017.

Review of the video blog

In early 2015, the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) wrote that “German YouTube personalities would receive up to five-digit amounts for integrating products from certain groups”. The editors had a “price list of the popular fashion blogger Nilam Farooq alias 'daaruum'”, which was never confirmed. These get "for the meeting of a product in a video up to 12,800 euros", any product placement on her Instagram - account "strike with 2,970 Euros to the price." Triggered by research by SZ and Report Mainz , there was a controversial “debate about transparency in advertising content” on YouTube. Farooq firmly denied criticism for surreptitious advertising; Rather, in 2014 she tested a product in eight of 150 published videos based on the recommendation of a company and marked the collaborations as such every time.
