Mewo'ot Jericho ( Hebrew מְבוֹאוֹת יְרִיחוֹ; English: Mevo'ot Yeriho; German: Entrances to Jericho ) is an Israeli community settlement in the West Bank that is illegally established under international law and is administered by the regional council of Bikʿat HaJarden ( Judea and Samaria ).
description
The settlement is located in the Jordan Valley, north of the city of Jericho. Mewo'ot Jericho was founded in 1999 and is 150 meters below sea level. In 2000 the place received the status of an agricultural settlement, where lemons, dates, figs, grapes, sweet potatoes are grown. At the same time, the Garden of Eden project (Hebrew: גיגת עדן) was launched. The project runs an Ulpana (אוּלְפָּנָה), a Jewish girls' school. The students live on a local farm and work in different teams: agriculture, art and clay . Mewo'ot Jericho is home to the world's first solar-powered mikvah , which was built in 2007. On September 15, 2019, the Israeli cabinet met in Mewo'ot Jericho and decided to legalize the place.

Numerous archaeological finds prove the presence of an old Jewish settlement in this area. Archaeologists identify the place with the biblical Gilgal . Remains of an aqueduct can be seen within the settlement. The remains of the aqueduct run both north and south of the settlement and can be traced back almost to the source in the area of the nearby Naʿaran synagogue .
