history

The Mezőkövesd-Zsóry Sport Egyesület club was founded on January 31, 1975 in the city of Mezőkövesd in northeast Hungary. In the first few years of its existence, the club bobbed around in the lower divisions of Hungarian regional football for many years, before being promoted to Nemzeti Bajnokság III, the third-highest division in Hungarian football, for the first time in the mid-1990s. You could stay there for four years before relegating to the amateur camp for another year. After the direct resurgence was mastered there, Mezőkövesd-Zsóry SE was finally able to establish itself in the third division. In the third division 2006/07 season they even made their first promotion to Nemzeti Bajnokság II , Hungary's second highest football league. Here, however, you came in last and immediately relegated. But only one year later Mezőkövesd-Zsóry SE was back in second place after having made it back to the top in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III 2008/09 with a first rank.

As a result, Mezőkövesd-Zsóry SE was able to establish itself immediately in the upper reaches of the second Hungarian football league and played once more, once less, for promotion year after year. A second place in the 2010/11 season was initially the most successful result, here you missed the promotion by only six points against Diósgyőri VTK . In the 2012/13 season the time had come, Mezőkövesd-Zsóry SE played a strong season, ended up in first place in season one of Nemzeti Bajnokság II with three points ahead of Vasas Budapest , and made it for the first time in the club's history to the Nemzeti Bajnokság . In 2013/14, the club rose again as the penultimate.
