The Miami Seahawks were an American football team that played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and was based in Miami , Florida . The team played their home games at the Burndine Stadium .

founding

In 1944, the AAFC was launched as a competitive league for the National Football League (NFL). The league was founded by a sports journalist from Chicago , who was able to gather numerous investors interested in football. The league awarded a total of eight franchises . A franchise went to Miami. The league began playing in 1946.

successes

The team's first coach from Florida was Jack Meagher, who was replaced by Hampton Pool , a former Pro Bowl player for the Chicago Bears , due to continued failure during the season . Pool acted as a player-coach. Despite this change, the Seahawks could only win three of 14 games in 1946. After the season, the AAFC revoked the team's license. In Baltimore , the Baltimore Colts were founded as a new franchise.
