Michèle Duchet

Michèle Duchet (born November 2, 1925 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ; † July 10, 2001 ) was a French Romance scholar, literary scholar and anthropologist .

life and work

Michèle Duchet (née Bonnissol) studied at the École normal supérieure de jeunes filles in Sèvres and in 1952 was the Agrégation in Lettres. She taught in Algeria , where she came into contact with the problem of colonialism , the historical origins of which became the subject of her research. She completed her habilitation with Jean Fabre with the text Anthropologie et histoire au siècle des Lumières. Buffon, Voltaire, Rousseau, Helvétius, Diderot (Paris 1971, 1978, 1995) and taught from 1969 at the École normal supérieure in Fontenay-aux-Roses (since 2000 École normal supérieure Lettres et sciences humaines in Lyon), from 1971 to 1991 as a professor.
